For many, California is all about the beaches! Even though the state is home to three mountain ranges, seven volcanoes, and some of the most fertile farmland in the world, many first think of sandy beaches when describing the Golden State.
G3 Minerals understands this better than most because its sand mine in Byron was once an ancient beach that gave rise to the Domengine geologic formation, a 50-million-year-old marine deposit. Today, this unique site is more than 50 miles from the ocean and home to a modern mine that is the only source of commercially available feldspathic sand in Northern California. The 100% natural silica sand is in high demand among glass manufacturers, construction companies, building material suppliers, parks and recreation superintendents, and landscapers because the sand is durable and hard-wearing. Plus, its sub-angular shape makes it ideal for multiple uses.
Our silica sand is first washed to remove heavy clays and fine aggregates. Next, the sand is dried and sent through the mine’s high-tech Rotex performance screeners to separate it into precise particles, producing higher yields in any grade needed. We offer several sand blends ranging in size from coarse sand (#12, #20 and #30) to fine sand (#60 - #200). G3 Minerals’ distinctive sand is white, flowable, and ideal for a multitude of other uses including in recreational turf (natural and artificial surfaces), golf course top dressing and bunkers, commercial/industrial applications (grout, flooring surfaces, sand blast media), horse arena footing, and utility pipe trench bedding. Our sand is available in bulk or 3,000-pound super sacks.
G3 Minerals is proud of our reliable record of delivering consistent, high-quality products. We test our finished product daily for silica purity, alumina and iron content, and particle size distribution. Only after meeting our rigorous quality control standards is our sand available for sale. We also take great pride in our environmental commitment as a significant portion of the Byron mine property has been rehabilitated and the land is now used for public recreation including hiking and fishing.
